THE MEMOIR
I GOT MY LITTLE ASS UP
A Memoir of Survival, Strength, and the Woman SHE Fought So Hard to Be
This is more than a story about what happened to me. It’s a story about what I did next—every time life knocked me down, sent me away, broke my heart, or tried to convince me I couldn’t keep going. I got my little ass up.
THIS IS MY STORY.
BUT IT MAY FEEL LIKE YOURS.
Maybe you know what it feels like to survive things you never should have had to survive. To keep moving when nobody asked if you were okay. To become strong because you didn’t have another choice.
This memoir is my story—but underneath the names, places, pain, laughter, and lessons is something bigger: the decision to keep getting up.
WHAT THIS BOOK HOLDS
A childhood shaped by instability. A girl learning how to survive before she ever had the chance to simply be a child. Motherhood. Marriage. Heartbreak. Starting over. And the long road back to herself.
I Got My Little Ass Up is not a story about having all the answers. It’s about what happens when life keeps knocking you down—and you decide, again and again, to get back up.
“I genuinely believed I was going to die right there in that house.
Breathe, Monique. Breathe. Pray. GOD, help me.”
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Monique Daniels is a mother, wife, professional, and now author who learned early that survival sometimes means getting up before you feel ready.
In I Got My Little Ass Up, she tells her story with honesty, humor, and the perspective that comes from finally being able to look back at the little girl she was—and recognize the woman she fought so hard to become.
Her story is deeply personal, but her message is universal: what happened to you may shape you, but it does not get to decide where your story ends.
